The calculator

Every dollar between the listing and your driveway.

Enter the truck, where it is listed, and your province. Landed first checks that it can come in at all — then returns the door price in Canadian dollars, one cited line at a time.

Worth knowing

  • Most UK used cars are sold under the margin scheme: no VAT line to reclaim. A dealer CAN zero-rate an export sale (margin-scheme or VAT-qualifying stock) if Notice 703 export-evidence conditions are met — ask before agreeing on price, and get the export treatment in writing.
  • Age exemption is judged on the manufacture date, not the model year — carry proof (heritage certificate, build record, or VIN decode) to the border.
  • 15+ years from manufacture: exempt from the RIV program — no RIV fee, no federal inspection.
  • Manufacture month unknown — age was computed assuming December of the build year. A build record can only make the vehicle older, never younger.
  • Right-hand drive registers fine in your province, but get an insurance quote before you buy — several mainstream insurers decline or surcharge RHD.

How to read the estimate

Firm lines are read from the rule, not estimated

Duty, GST/HST, and excise come straight from the Customs Tariff, CBSA memoranda, and CRA publications — each line links its source and the date we last verified it.

The duty result most buyers get wrong

A personal-use vehicle bought in the UK or EU enters at 0% duty under the casual-goods rules — no exporter paperwork needed. The same UK-built truck bought in Dubai or Durban pays 6.1% MFN.

Ranges are labelled as ranges

Ocean freight, inland transport, and service fees are observed market ranges, not tariffs. They tighten as verified import data accumulates. Nothing is presented as firmer than it is.

Provincial reality included

HST at the border for HST provinces, QST at the SAAQ, BC's tiered PST at ICBC, and the two provinces that refuse young right-hand-drive trucks outright.
